1-1. まず最初に、皆さん！空ってとっても広いですよね？実は、その広さはなんと、地球の表面積の約4分の3を覆っているんです！でも、空の中には何があるかご存知ですか？そう、空気の層がいくつも重なっていて、そのおかげで私たちは呼吸をし、雲が浮かび、そして飛行機が空を飛ぶことができるんです。そう考えると、空って私たちの生活に欠かせない存在なんですよね！
1-2. First of all, everyone! Isn’t the sky incredibly vast? In fact, it covers about three-quarters of the Earth’s surface area! But do you know what’s in the sky? That’s right, there are multiple layers of air, and thanks to that, we can breathe, clouds float, and airplanes can soar through the skies. When you think about it this way, the sky is truly an indispensable part of our lives!

2-1. 空を見ると、時々変わった色合いを見かけますよね！例えば、夕焼けのオレンジやピンク、朝焼けの淡い青など。これらの色は、実は太陽の光が大気中の小さな粒子に散乱されることで生まれます。特に、夕方には大気中の粒子が増えるため、光がより多く散乱され、美しい色合いに変わるのです。まるで空が「今日は特別な日だよ！」と教えてくれているみたいですね。
2-2. When you look at the sky, sometimes you see unusual colors, right? For instance, the oranges and pinks of a sunset or the soft blues of a sunrise. These colors are actually created by sunlight scattering through tiny particles in the atmosphere. Especially in the evening, the particles in the air increase, causing the light to scatter more and transform into beautiful hues. It’s as if the sky is saying, “Today is a special day!”

3-1. あと、知っていましたか？空には音がないんです！音は空気を通して伝わりますが、真空の状態では音が聞こえません。つまり、宇宙空間に行ったとたん、周りの音は一切聞こえなくなるんですよ。そう考えると、宇宙飛行士は静寂の中で働くことになるのです。空を見上げながら、そんな無音の世界を想像してみると、ちょっとドキドキしますね！
3-2. Did you know that there is no sound in the sky? Sound travels through air, but in a vacuum, there’s no sound to be heard. That means, as soon as you step into outer space, you won’t hear a thing around you! When you think about it, astronauts have to work in complete silence. Imagining that noiseless world while looking up at the sky gives you a little thrill, doesn’t it?

4-2. The sky is also crucial for producing the food we eat! Yes, plants absorb carbon dioxide from the air to perform photosynthesis, creating the food we consume. 5-2. Finally, the sky gives us dreams of astronomy. Stars, planets, and other celestial bodies spread out across the sky, captivating us. For instance, spotting constellations like the Big Dipper or Orion in the night sky is incredibly fun! Additionally, observing the phases of the moon is another joy of looking up at the sky. The sky is telling us the mysteries of the infinite universe!
